University Police Department to host animal welfare training
MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University Police Department will host free Peace Officer Standard Training certification training from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday, Nov. 18 at The Station.
The program is sponsored by Humane Society of Missouri's Cruelty Investigations Task Force and is meant for law enforcement, prosecutors, animal control and care agencies, city management, city council members and social workers.
Participants will learn about Missouri state statutes, impoundment procedures, euthanasia regulations, animal stress and behavior, and animal abuse and family violence.
