Music education majors participate in Midwest Trumpet Festival

MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest music education majors Brittany Terwey and Rachel Sneed recently participated in the annual Midwest Trumpet Festival, hosted by Pittsburg State University.

The students attended master classes, concerts, lectures and warm-up sessions with trumpet teachers from Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Texas, New York and Tennessee.

In addition to performing on the "Student Spotlight Recital," Sneed served as one of the participants in a master class with Billy Hunter, co-principal trumpet of the Metropolitan Opera House Orchestra. Their trip was supported through a generous undergraduate research award given by Dr. Charles McAdams, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Northwest.

Terwey is a freshman from Omaha, Neb. Sneed is a senior from Smithville, Mo.
