Northwest welcomes families, friends, fans for annual Family Weekend

MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State University is welcoming families to its campus this weekend for the University's annual Family Weekend, which features a full slate of entertainment, athletic events and family fun.

The weekend's highlights include free entertainment Friday and Saturday nights, the Freshman/Transfer Showcase production of "Snapshot," and Saturday afternoon's football game against Missouri Western State University.

Due to television coverage, the kickoff time for Saturday's football game has been moved from 1 p.m. to 2:20 p.m. Festivities include the halftime introduction of the Northwest Family of the Year. The Bearcat Zone, Northwest's tailgate area prior to all home football games, gets under way at noon at the Raymond J. Courter College Park Pavilion.

The football game will be carried live on KSMO Channel 62 in the Kansas City area as well as several cable systems throughout the MIAA's geographical footprint, including Cox Communications in Kansas, Cablevision in St. Joseph, Eagle Communications in Hays, Kan., and Mediacom cable systems in Springfield, Columbia and Jefferson City. Fans also can catch play-by-play action on the Bearcat Radio Network, the online internet webcasts or by purchasing live video streaming through B2 Networks and the MIAA.

All Family Weekend events are open the public, unless otherwise noted. Times are subject to change. In case of inclement weather, outdoor activities will be moved to the J.W. Jones Student Union.
