MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State University announced today the naming of Mark Clements as interim athletics director, effective immediately.
Clements replaces Dr. Robert Boerigter who recently was named commissioner of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA).
Clements has served as assistant athletics director for internal operations at Northwest since January 2003. He came to Northwest from Dana College in Blair, Neb., where he was the director of athletics. While at Dana he was an instructor of physical education and coached baseball. He also served as assistant baseball coach at Hastings (Neb.) College.
He holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Dana College and received his Master of Arts in teaching from Hastings College.
Northwest will begin its search for a permanent athletics director immediately. Dr. Matt Walker, assistant professor in the Department of Communication, Theatre and Languages, will chair the committee, which includes representatives from the coaching staff, Board of Regents and other academic departments.
