MARYVILLE, Mo. - Even Bearcats need to practice their interview skills, right?
Northwest Missouri State University will host its annual "Mock" Interview Day Wednesday, Sept. 29 to give students of all majors an opportunity to practice their interviewing skills with real employers.
This trimester Northwest Missouri State University's Office of Career Services has attracted several new employers including:
Student evaluations from these interviews have consistently shown Northwest students and employer participants consider "Mock" Interview Day a worthwhile and beneficial event. Career Services invites a mix of employers to campus for the event based on requests from faculty and academic departments, and the statistical analysis of previous mock interview events. The program offers more than 250 "mock" interview opportunities for students.
Students may sign-up by clicking "Hire A Bearcat" on the Career Services website. Instructions to sign-up for the event can be found on the Career Services website or in the Career Services office, located on the first floor of the Administration Building.
The mock interview format is designed to provide students with feedback on how to improve their interviewing skills. Each mock interview session will be about 40 minutes, which allows 20 minutes to conduct the student's interview and 15 to 20 minutes to evaluate his or her resume and provide feedback.
During the feedback session the employer will provide suggestions on how to improve the students' interviewing skills, resume and overall performance. Even though this is a practice interview, employers expect students to be prepared.
Sign-up ends at 5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 24. Career Services does not guarantee certain schedules will be open when the sign-up period ends. Interviews are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Career Services also will offer "Walk-In" Resume Review Sessions. The sessions provide students a chance to gain valuable feedback on how to improve their resume by meeting with participating employers. For a complete list of employers attending, go to "Mock" Interview Day Attendees.
