"SAC chose Sean Kingston and the Ying Yang Twins because of their plethora of success doing college shows," said Patrick J. Solomon, concert director for the Students Activities Council. "Combined, these artists have done shows and have shows planned at Penn State University, the University of Miami, University of California-Santa Barbara, Yale and MIT. Of the ones they already did, each was very successful and had the crowd asking for more. Also, we have two very different types of music we are bringing with each artist so it will appeal to different types of audiences."
Flying onto the music industry and topping the charts with his first pop hit "Beautiful Girls," Kingston landed his first certified platinum album before the age of 19. Kingston's music is a little bit of reggae, rap and pop. Many may know him for other No. 1 hits like "Fire Burning" and "Eenie Meenie." He has won many awards over the years including the 2007 MOBO Award and the 2007 Teen choice Award.
Kingston has toured with Chris Brown and Justin Bieber. He also has co-written songs including Jason Derulo's No. 1 hit "Whatcha Say."
Opening for Kingston will be the rap duo from Atlanta, Ying Yang Twins. They have multiple No.1 hits, including "Dangerous" and "Salt Shaker." They have collaborated with Lil Jon and The East Side Boyz and Busta Rhymes. The Ying Yang Twins recent albums include "Ying Yang Fever" and a greatest hits collection.
