Dr. Rebecca Dunnell, associate professor of music, will give a presentation on Aug. 25 at the British Flute Society Convention at the Royal Northern College of Music, titled "Mozart Immersion: The Patrons who Commissioned Mozart's Flute Concertos." Her invitation to the international forum was by peer-review and highly selective.
Dunnell will discuss the context of the creation of Mozart's flute concertos, including Mozart's relationships with patrons, the specific instruments' designs for which he was composing, and other factors that reflect upon his works for flute.
Dunnell also will include material she unearthed in her research at the Paris Archives Nationale, the Bibliothèque nationale de France and the British Library in London.
