MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State announced today that Terri Vogel has been named to the position of registrar and will begin serving in the new role on June 1, pending approval by the Board of Regents.
Vogel will replace Linda Girard, who is retiring on May 31 after 35 years of service at Northwest, including the last 28 as registrar.
Beverly Schenkel, dean of enrollment management, said Vogel brings vast experience in education and customer service.
"Terri's professional background allows her to bring a variety of perspectives to this position and will aid her in understanding the needs of students, faculty and staff at Northwest," Schenkel said. "Terri will provide a proactive approach to customer service and a leadership style that is collaborative and open."
Vogel, who has served Northwest in various roles since 1998, has worked in the registrar's office since 2007 as an academic services assistant.
She is knowledgeable of Northwest's student information system, registration processes, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines, degree audit systems, and policies and procedures in the University catalog.
"I'm excited about the new role I will play here at Northwest and eager to collaborate with faculty, staff and students," Vogel said. "My goals are to increase and improve communication between the registrar's office and stakeholders, take a proactive approach to delivering customer services, and continue to enhance the services and uses of technology to gain efficiencies and effectiveness."
Vogel joined the Northwest staff in 1998 as a department secretary. She has since served as an instructor in the department of agriculture and freshman seminar. Vogel also has worked as a business development specialist for the University of Missouri Extension and as an administrative secretary for University Outreach/Extension-Holt County.
Vogel earned her bachelor's degree in industrial psychology from Northwest in 2002 and her master's in business administration from Northwest in 2004.
