MARYVILLE, Mo. - Anyone who is a history buff, sports fan, pop culture junkie or simply has a knack for useless knowledge is invited to participate in Trivia Night, sponsored by the Maryville Alumni and Friends Chapter of the Northwest Missouri State University Alumni Association.
The event, which is open to the public, begins at 6:15 p.m. (questions begin at 7 p.m.), Saturday, April 24, at the Maryville Country Club, 25867 Icon Road.
Proceeds from Trivia Night benefit the Maryville Alumni and Friends Chapter Scholarship.
"Each year the Maryville Chapter looks for activities or events to help endow our chapter's scholarship," said John Van Cleave, chapter president. "We knew about the success of the trivia event hosted by the St. Francis Hospital Hospice, and we thought we could host a similar event that gives Northwest alumni, friends and community members a chance to support our scholarship. We also thought it was important to have our event following the hospice's so we didn't take away from the turnout of their fundraiser, which also benefits a worthwhile cause."
Van Cleave said the evening's format will consist of eight sessions with 10 questions per session covering a variety of subjects. Prizes will be awarded to first-place and last-place teams. In addition, door prizes will be given away and there will be raffles and contests throughout the evening, including a coin-flip contest and 50/50 drawing.
The cost is $20 per person, and participants must sign up as a table of eight. Payment, in the form of cash, check or credit card, is due at the time of reservation.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own appetizers to share with their teammates. Although outside beverages are not allowed, a cash bar will be available.
For more information or to reserve a table of eight, contact Brenda Untiedt at the Alumni House at 660.562.1248 or email@example.com. The number of tables is limited to 10, so early registration is recommended. The registration deadline is Friday, April 23.
