NCAA D-II football national championship trophy, coach greet Arizona fans

MARYVILLE, Mo. - The 2009 Northwest Missouri State University football season gave Bearcat fans plenty to cheer about as the team brought home the NCAA Division II National Championship title. Now the Northwest Alumni Association is celebrating with Northwest alumni and friends by offering a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 26, at Cadillac Grill (Tempe Marketplace, 2000 E. Rio Salado Pkwy., Suite 2105) in Tempe, Ariz., featuring coach Mel Tjeerdsma as well as the NCAA Division II National Championship trophy.

The event, which is complimentary and family-friendly, includes remarks from Tjeerdsma at 7 p.m., giveaways and an opportunity for autographs. Hors d'oeuvres will be provided. A courtesy RSVP is requested to .

The following day, March 27, the University's alumni and friends are invited to a Kansas City Royals and Oakland A's spring training baseball game. The game begins at 1 p.m. at Surprise Stadium. The cost is $30 and includes a game ticket, all-you-can-eat buffet and a drink voucher. Tickets, available for pickup at the Will Call window on game day, may be ordered by calling (660) 562-1248 by Friday, March 19.

Both events are hosted by the Arizona Alumni and Friends Chapter of the Northwest Alumni Association.
