Dec. 10, 2009
The Northwest Bearcats' chartered flight following the NCAA Division II National Championship football game in Florence, Ala., is scheduled to land at Rosecrans Memorial Airport in St. Joseph around 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, and the team, which defeated Grand Valley State University 30-23 for the national championship, should arrive in Maryville about an hour later.
Team buses will take Business Hwy. 71 into Maryville and proceed north on Main Street into downtown before turning west on Fourth Street to Lamkin Activity Center, where players and coaches will disembark.
Bearcat fans are urged to welcome the team back to Maryville by lining up along Main Street and Fourth Street and gathering outside Lamkin at 10:45 p.m. It is also hoped that merchants and homeowners will decorate store windows and front porches with welcome-home messages and displays showing off their Bearcat pride.
