Bearcat Championship Sendoff set for 4 p.m. Wednesday

Northwest Bearcat fans are invited to participate in the "Bearcat Championship Sendoff" Wednesday, Dec. 9, as the football team departs Maryville for Florence, Ala., the site of Saturday's NCAA Division II National Championship game.

Fans are encouraged to line College Avenue/Fourth Street in Maryville between Lamkin Activity Center and Main Street, wearing Bearcat green and white and waving Northwest banners, flags and signs as the buses are escorted out of town by University Police.

Players and coaches will load buses at 4 p.m. outside Lamkin Activity Center, where the Bearcat Marching Band will be performing. Bobby Bearcat, assisted by the Bearcat Steppers and Northwest cheerleaders, will be tossing giveaways to the crowd gathered outside LAC. The buses will then travel east to Main Street, arriving about 4:15 p.m., and then south on Main Street to Hwy. 71.

Northwest, making an unprecedented fifth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division II National Championship game, takes on Grand Valley State University at noon Saturday, Dec. 12, at Braly Municipal Stadium.
