Northwest's Department of Music will present a concert featuring the Madraliers and the Low Brass Ensemble beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, in the Olive DeLuce Fine Arts Building's Charles Johnson Theater. The concert is free and open to the public.
Members of the Madraliers perform music spanning a time frame from the 16th century through contemporary composers. In the spring, the 36-member ensemble becomes the Celebration Show Choir. During past years, the group has participated in many concerts, tours, invitational performances and good-will missions. Dr. Brian Lanier, associate professor of music, is the group's conductor, and Dr. Charles Badami will accompany the group during the upcoming concert.
Dr. Ernest Woodruff, professor of music, is the conductor of the eight-member Low Brass Ensemble. Woodruff said the ensemble members are enrolled in his studio class, and the concert is an extension of their applied lessons and gives them a performance outlet.
