Northwest's Tower Choir under the direction of Dr. Stephen Town, professor of music, will perform in concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, in the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts on the University campus. Admission is free.
The concert also features the Liberty Community Chorus directed by Bryan Taylor.
Pianist Dr. Charles Badami will accompany the Tower Choir, and Jeff Nunn will accompany the Liberty Community Chorus.
The Liberty Community Chorus was established to foster the singing talents of a mixed choir and share the art of choral music with the community. When the LCC was established in 2003, the intent was to be a summer-only chorus. It soon became clear that the interest in a more full-time chorus was apparent. Chorus membership averages 70 to 80 singers of all ages, and no audition is required.
Northwest's Tower Choir has been a prestigious part of the University's musical tradition for many years. Performance highlights have included a by-invitation performance at the Washington National Cathedral during an extended tour that featured appearances in Washington, D.C., Maryland and New York. The auditioned, 48-voice ensemble has a rich history of choral performance marked by invitational appearances at a number of respected education and choral events.
