Sept. 17, 2009
Theatre Northwest, the dramatic arts program of Northwest's Department of Communication, Theatre and Languages, opens its 2009-2010 Mainstage season Sept. 24-27 with "The Good Doctor" by Neil Simon.
The play serves as this year's Freshman/Transfer Showcase and is cast entirely with new freshmen or students who have transferred to Northwest from other colleges and universities. Dr. Theo Ross, professor of communication, theatre and languages, directs.
Curtain time in the Mary Linn Auditorium of the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts is 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, Friday, Sept. 25, and Saturday, Sept. 26. There is a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, Sept. 27. A post-show discussion takes place following the Thursday performance.
Simon's Broadway hit follows Russian playwright Anton Chekhov through a series of vignettes featuring some of his most famous works. Along the way, the audience discovers a blend of humor, tenderness and fun.
Tickets cost $8 and are available at the door. All seats are general admission with seating on a first-come, first-served basis.
