White, McLaughlin article about online teaching is published
Two faculty members from Northwest's Department of Accounting, Economics and Finance have had their article published in a journal sponsored by the Taiwan Institute of Business Administration.
Assistant Professor Dr. Jason T. White and Professor Dr. J. Patrick McLaughlin's double-blind peer reviewed article titled "Best Practices in Online Teaching: A Primer for the Technologically Challenged" was published in the August 2009 Academy of Taiwan Business Management Review.
In the paper, White and McLaughlin share the development of Northwest's online program, and specifically, practices they use in building, teaching and facilitating online business courses. The authors reveal some of the pitfalls of development and discuss issues such as funding for online course development, institutional commitment, effective course design, pedagogy concerns and delivery issues.
