Bearcat clans gather for Family Weekend
The parents and families of Northwest Missouri State University students will wear their Bearcat colors proudly this weekend during Family Weekend, Friday, Sept. 18, to Sunday, Sept. 20. This year's theme is "Bearcat Vacation."
"Family Weekend offers so much to all of our Bearcat families," said Northwest President Dr. John Jasinski. "This is a celebration of our students and their families. It represents what Northwest is all about: a big Bearcat family!"
Among the highlights of three days of activities planned for Northwest students, families, alumni and friends of the University is the Northwest Alumni Association's Alumni Awards Banquet Friday evening, Sept. 18. Five distinguished members of the Northwest family will be honored during the banquet. The event begins with a 6 p.m. social in the J.W. Jones Student Union Ballroom followed by dinner at 6:45 p.m. The awards presentation starts at 8 p.m. Reservations are required.
Saturday's big event is the Bearcat football game against the University of Nebraska-Omaha, which begins at 1 p.m. in Bearcat Stadium. Festivities include the halftime introduction of the Northwest Family of the Year.
The Bearcat Zone, Northwest's tailgate area prior to all home football games, gets under way at 11 a.m. in the Raymond J. Courter College Park Pavilion.
Other highlights include a hypnotist, discounts at Mozingo Lake Golf Course, a 5K run/walk/roll fundraiser, a pancake breakfast, family fun fest, open houses and special displays, bowling and a casino night.
