Athletic trainers to host annual 5K fundraiser
Northwest's athletic training staff will host its annual 5K Run/Walk/Roll fundraiser Saturday, Sept. 19, a date that coincides with the University's Family Weekend and the Bearcats' home football game against the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
Registration for the run/walk/roll begins at 6:30 a.m. in the circle drive in front of Lamkin Activity Center, and the event starts at 7 a.m. The $20 registration fee includes a T-shirt and the opportunity to win door prizes.
All Northwest students, faculty and staff are encouraged to participate in the run, which is open to the public. Participants choosing to rollerblade or ride a bicycle must wear a helmet.
Funds raised at the event are used to help Northwest athletic trainers attend the National Athletic Trainers' Association Conference, scheduled for June 2010 in Philadelphia. The training staff includes Kelly Quinlin, head athletic trainer, Jeff Smith, assistant athletic trainer, and four graduate assistant trainers.
