Reservations being accepted for Tourin' Bearcats' Hawaiian cruise

An eight-day, seven-night Hawaiian cruise is the next getaway being offered by the Tourin' Bearcats, the travel program for Northwest alumni and friends.

Northwest President Dr. John Jasinski, First Lady Denise Jasinski and their children will join travelers on the Northwest Alumni Association-sponsored trip.

The excursion, which is open to the public, is May 29 to June 5, 2010. The cost is $2,195 per person, based on double occupancy, and includes roundtrip airfare from Kansas City, insurance, all transfers and port and government taxes. Upgrades are available. Reservations, with a $250 deposit, are due Jan. 22, 2010, and final payment is due by March 8, 2010. Checks should be made out to Cotter Travel and mailed to Northwest Missouri State University, Alumni House, 800 University Dr., Maryville, MO 64468.

Travelers will fly to Honolulu and board the Norwegian Cruise Lines' Pride of America ship, the first new U.S.-flagged cruise ship in nearly 50 years. The 2,100-passenger Pride of America is a Freestyle Cruise, which is void of schedules and offers complete freedom and flexibility. The ship departs from Honolulu, and ports throughout the cruise include Kahului, Maui, Hilo, Hawaii, Kona, Hawaii, and Nawiliwili, Kauai. In addition to a Bearcat evening social with President Jasinski, an evening sail by Mount Kilauea and an afternoon cruise of Napali Coast, an optional tour to Lanai is available as well as numerous other excursions.

"This cruise will be a great getaway," said Steve Sutton, Northwest's director of alumni relations. "There will be a wide range of optional excursions that travelers of all ages will be able to enjoy. We're also excited that Dr. Jasinski and his family will be joining us. This will be a tremendous opportunity for Northwest alumni and friends to meet the University's president and also for the Jasinskis to interact with fellow Bearcats."

Those wishing to participate in the Tourin' Bearcats' Hawaiian cruise are encouraged to reserve their space as soon as possible. Past Tourin' Bearcat cruises have sold out quickly.
