Northwest freshman and ROTC cadet Arielle Sutton, a pre-professional biology major from Everest, Kan., will be recognized Thursday, Sept. 3, during the third annual Pony Express Battalion Reserve Officers' Training Corps contracting ceremony in St. Joseph.
The ceremony recognizes university students who have made the commitment to join the Pony Express Battalion ROTC program, which culminates in their receiving an Army second lieutenant's commission upon completion of a bachelor's degree.
There are currently 22 students enrolled in fall trimester ROTC classes at Northwest.
Prior to the contracting ceremony, an open house will take place from 1-2:45 p.m. in Wilson Hall on the Missouri Western State University campus. The ceremony itself begins at 3 p.m. in Spratt Hall.
