Dr. William Richardson, associate professor of music, will present a faculty trumpet recital at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, in Charles Johnson Theater on the Northwest campus. The concert is free and open to the public.
Sharing the stage with Richardson will be faculty colleague Dr. Charles Badami, instructor of music and collaborative pianist.
Featured works include "Suite in D Major" by Handel, "Concerto in E-flat Major" by Haydn and " Quatre variations sur un thème de Domenico Scarlatti" by the 20 th century French composer Marcel Bitsch.
A member of the St. Joseph Symphony and the Maguire Street Brass, Richardson is a 10-year veteran of the Northwest music faculty. He teaches trumpet at the University and directs the Northwest Jazz Ensemble.
He will leave on sabbatical during the spring 2010 trimester to lecture and perform at the Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music in Riga, Latvia, as a Fulbright Scholar.
Badami began teaching and performing at Northwest in 2008.
