Expect increased traffic flow, parking restrictions during Move-in Days
Move-in Days for the fall trimester at Northwest will take place Wednesday, August 26, through Saturday, August 29.
The first move-in phase will begin at about 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, and involve a limited number of freshmen. Most first-year students will arrive throughout Thursday, Aug. 27. They will be followed by upper-division students on Friday and Saturday. Most of the traffic associated with returning students will be routed onto campus via Icon Road.
During the move-in period, Maryville residents and members of the University community should be prepared for heavy traffic volume near campus residential facilities. Streets leading onto the campus may also be affected.
Parking lot 57, located north of Brown Hall, will be closed Thursday, Aug. 27, and Friday, Aug. 28, to all faculty and staff so that it can be used by students and families as they unload belongings. Similarly, parking lot 39, located north of The Station, will be closed Thursday, Aug. 27.
The east portion of parking lot 42 from Phillips Hall to Franken Hall will also be closed Thursday, Aug. 27, and Friday, Aug. 28, to give students a place to unload items. Other parking areas closed to faculty and staff on Thursday, Aug. 27, include lot 9 behind Roberta Hall and lot 10 behind the Hudson/Perrin freshman residence complex.
All affected lots will be cleared by Campus Safety beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26. For a Move-in Days campus access and parking map, go to: PARKING MAP .
Van Training/special events parking
The required 15-passenger van training will be offered from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. each Wednesday at the Campus Safety office northeast of the Administration Building. E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a spot.
If you plan to drive, or if you supervise faculty/staff who plan to drive, a University vehicle, a one-time Motor Vehicle Report has to be completed prior to taking the wheel. If you have completed a Motor Vehicle Report in the past you DO NOT have to complete another one. E-mail email@example.com and request a Motor Vehicle Report if you have not completed one.
Anyone planning an event on campus who needs assistance with parking should notify Monica McCollough at Campus Safety. Contact McCollough at least two weeks prior to the event to arrange for parking permits or discuss other parking options.
Lastly, while Northwest seeks to maintain a secure campus environment, it is important to remember that all members of the University community must accept a level of individual responsibility for their own safety.
Campus Safety will respond to anyone who has questions or concerns. Stop by the Campus Safety office near the corner of West Ninth Street and North College Drive or call 660.562.1254. Send e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or go to www.nwmissouri.edu/police on the Web.
