Electrical outage leaves campus briefly without power
Northwest Missouri State University was affected by a brief power outage late this morning, Monday, July 27.
The blackout, which affected a significant geographical area stretching north from St. Joseph, began just before 11 a.m. and ended about 20 minutes later.
Kansas City Power & Light officials reported that the outage occurred when a breaker tripped as technicians were working at a substation.
Emergency campus power systems were activated and provided electricity for security lighting in residence halls and other key campus facilities. No injuries were reported.
