Kenny Daugherty, senior vice president of the firm retained to assist in recruiting Northwest's 10th president, said Monday that the search process continues on schedule.
The Atlanta, Ga., firm, Jon McRae & Associates Inc., was retained earlier this year by the Northwest Board of Regents to conduct the nationwide search. Daugherty said he and his team will be on campus Friday, March 20, to meet with the local search committee, a group that last met via teleconference in late February.
"At that time (March 20), we will do the first narrowing down," said Daugherty, who expects the committee to trim the number of applicants in preparation for off-site interviews "as soon as we can schedule them."
Daugherty added that he was pleased by the number of applications from across the country. "You have a wonderful and well-known institution," he said.
After the off-site interviews are completed, Daugherty said the list will be further narrowed to three finalists who will be invited for campus interviews.
The selected candidate will assume the presidency when Dr. Dean L. Hubbard retires on July 31 after leading the University for 25 years.
Board of Regents President James William "Bill" Loch heads the 13-member search committee, which comprises several regents as well as representatives from the campus and Maryville communities.
