Book royalties benefit scholarship for Northwest students
Cindy Kenkel, assistant professor of marketing/management at Northwest Missouri State University, is using the royalties from a book she authored to fund a scholarship for Northwest students majoring in management, marketing or international business.
The book, "Extreme Resume Makeover," was published by McGraw Hill-Irwin in 2007 and features student cover letters and resumes.
Six $500 awards have been funded based on royalties Kenkel donates to the Extreme Resume Makeover Scholarship fund.
"I feel compelled to donate the royalties I earn back to the students since the inspiration behind the book came from them," Kenkel said. "Awarding a scholarship in my department seemed like a logical way to give back to the students who purchase this book. In fact, I recently changed the requirements of the scholarship to give preference to a student who graduated from Maryville High School to give it more of a local flavor."
For more information about the scholarship, administered through the Northwest Foundation, or to inquire about additional giving opportunities, contact Polly Howard, development officer, at pollyh@nwmissouri.edu or 660.562.1248.
