Minor in Mathematics Education (Certifies Grades 9-12)
Designed to:
- prepare students to teach secondary mathematics
- provide the strong content knowledge needed to teach mathematics
- lead to Missouri teaching certification (can be augmented to meet the requirements in most other states)
- combine instruction in mathematical content with courses that explore strategies for teaching mathematics
- prepare students to enter a graduate program in mathematics education

In addition to the 30 hours, Math 17-580 Methods in Secondary School Mathematics must be completed as a degree requirement.
* Requires a knowledge of trigonometry. Math 17-119 Trigonometry may not be counted as a part of the 30 hours required for this minor.
* This course counts as a General Education course as well as a course in the minor area.
** CSIS 44-130 Computers and Info Tech is a prerequisite course.
With proper choice of electives, this minor meets minimum Missouri certification standards for grades 9-12. Students should obtain a minor advisor early in the program.
