44th Annual Mathematics Olympiad and
Inaugural Programming Competition

Thursday, March 19, 2015
Northwest Missouri State University | Maryville, MO

If you’ve attended our Olympiad Day in the past, you’ll see some components that are the same from previous years (e.g., Olympiad test and Awards Ceremony). However, this year we are changing a few things up. First, during the morning session while students are taking the Olympiad test, there is a new component, a Computer Programming Competition. Please be sure to see the Computer Programming page for more information.

Olympiad Day Events

Olympiad Test
Time: 9:45-11:45 a.m.

Students will individually take a 50-question, multiple choice mathematics test designed for either high school sophomores, juniors or seniors. There will be individual awards and team awards.

Programming Competition *NEW!*
Time: 9:15-11:45 a.m.

Teams of three will be presented with a series of 5-6 problems, and their goal is to solve as many as they can in 2 hours.  They will submit their programs to an online judge (PC^2). The team that answers the most questions wins, or, in the event of a tie, the team that submitted the answers in the least amount of time will win.

Student Sessions
Time: 1:15-2:45 p.m.

Students will choose two of the three afternoon sessions to attend. The choices include a Careers in Math and Computing Panel, a team problem solving competition, and a session on using Scratch!.

Teacher Session
Time: 10-11 a.m.

Experienced high school computer programming teachers will lead a hands-on presentation about incorporating Scratch! into your math and computer science classes.
