2nd Annual Programming Competition

Thursday, March 17, 2016
Northwest Missouri State University | Maryville, MO

Last year’s redesigned Olympiad Day was a success! Thank you if you were among those who attended. This year’s Olympiad Day will also feature the 50-question individual Olympiad test, team Computer Programming Competition, a morning session for teachers, and three afternoon sessions for students, including a team problem-solving competition. We hope you can join us!

Olympiad Day Events

Olympiad Test
Time: 9:45-11:45 a.m.

Students will individually take a 50-question, multiple choice mathematics test designed for either high school sophomores, juniors or seniors. There will be individual awards and team awards.

Programming Competition
Time: 9:15-11:45 a.m.

Teams of three will be presented with a series of 5-6 problems, and their goal is to solve as many as they can in 2 hours. They will submit their programs to an online judge (PC2). The team that answers the most questions wins, or, in the event of a tie, the team that submitted the answers in the least amount of time will win.

Student Sessions
Time: 1:15-2:45 p.m.

Students will choose two of the three afternoon sessions to attend. The choices include a Careers in Math and Computing Panel, a team problem solving competition, and a session on using Scratch!.

Teacher Session
Time: 10-11 a.m.

Have you started using Tinkerplots? It is an interactive software that helps with data representation and analysis. Teachers and students alike enjoy using it. Dr. Jenni Wall will share activities she does with her students through Tinkerplots.
