Director of Student Achievement
Neal began his work as the Director of Student Achievement at the Missouri Academy during the summer of 2011. In this capacity, Neal is responsible for monitoring the academic performance of all Missouri Academy students and helping guide and advise them on the college application process. He is also instrumental in helping develop, monitor, and coordinate the Missouri Academy curriculum and he is a liaison with many of the Missouri Academy's outside stakeholders, including sending schools and prospective college and university admissions and financial aid personnel. Additionally, Neal is responsible for the development and operation of the Missouri Academy’s residential life program and provides direct supervision and support for the residential staff and students. He is also responsible for all discipline and conduct at the Missouri Academy as well as building maintenance issues. Neal previously worked at the Missouri Academy as a Residential Counselor from 2003 to 2009. He hopes to continue to use the knowledge and experiences he gained over the years to continue to add value to the student experience at the Missouri Academy. He has always had a passion for working with academically talented and high-achieving students and he is thrilled to be able to continue helping students succeed every day.
Neal is a Bearcat through and through. He's been at Northwest first as a student and then an employee since 1999. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Northwest with a major in Broadcasting and a minor in Computer Science in 2003. During his time as an undergrad, Neal was a Resident Assistant in Dieterich Hall, a Biology tutor and SI, and he worked in the KXCV/KRNW newsroom at Northwest. During his time as a Residential Counselor, Neal completed his Master of Science degree in Higher Education Leadership from Northwest in 2009.
Neal was born in Louisville, KY, but grew up in Cape Girardeau, MO. He met his wonderful wife Meghan, who is the Director of Residential Life here at Northwest, during his time as an RC. Neal and Meghan have two beautiful daughters – Lily, who was born in March of 2011 and Cece, who was born in December of 2014. Neal enjoys spending most of his time with his family, but he also enjoys watching sports (especially his St. Louis Cardinals), wathcing movies and TV, playing golf, reading, and playing video games.
