Missouri Academy Needs

Your donation or gift will be used towards supporting the following:

Unrestricted Giving: The Missouri Academy will see that your donation or gift is used where it's needed the most. It may be used for student scholarships or to support quality student activities or towards the improvement of the Missouri Academy residential facility

MASMC Scholarships for Students: You may specifically designate your donation to go towards student scholarships.  Missouri’s investment in higher education has gone from approximately 70% (of the university’s operating budget) in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, to approximately 54.4% in 2000, and to a projected 31.2% in 2013.  The Missouri Academy was able to provide full scholarships for tuition and room and board for the classes of 2002, 2003, and 2004.  The funding model began to change.  Starting with the class of 2005, students were responsible for a portion of the cost of room and board.  This was a direct result of reduced state financial support to higher education in Missouri.  Further financial challenges in 2008-2009 made it necessary once again to restructure the room and board scholarships – resulting in increases in the student’s share of the costs.  Beginning in Fall 2012, domestic students who are Missouri residents will be asked to contribute 48% - 71% of the total cost (Total cost per year per student = $17,612). To ensure that the Missouri Academy does not become an exclusive school for those who can afford it, the school is seeking funding to meet the demonstrated financial needs of all qualified Missouri residents.

MASMC Programs and Activities: You may specifically designate your donation to go towards student programs and activities. The living and learning environment at the Missouri Academy is enriched when students have access to a wide range of high quality activities in which they can participate and develop intellectual, social and leadership skills.  The key activities at the Missouri Academy include:

Capital Improvement for the MASMC Facility: You may specifically designate your donation to go towards the improvement of the MASMC residential facility.  North Complex (Cooper Hall and Douglas Hall) contains the residential facilities and administrative offices for the Missouri Academy.  Both buildings were first built in the early 1960’s and they have many outdated features.  To provide the highest level of customer service and to improve the Missouri Academy’s ability to attract academically advanced high school sophomores, the Missouri Academy must address physical flaws in the facility.  We are looking for private funding to leverage public costs of either substantially remodeling North Complex or building a new building that house up to 280 students.
