Reserve Collection is an extension of the classroom in that it
supports academic programs, and includes: |

readings (listed as such on the syllabus) from library books,
instructor's personal copies or photocopied materials,

periodicals
and newspapers in great demand,

notes
and exams professors have made available for students' use,
-
-
CD-ROMs,
-
cassette
tapes,
-
video
tapes,
-
models,
-
Northwest
graduate and undergraduate catalogs, and
-
other
official University publications.

| To
check out a Reserve item: |
A
call number and your Bearcat ID are required to check out a Reserve
item from the Library Services Desk. You may only check
out a total of 3 Reserve items at the same time. Up to 2 of those
items
may
be
books.

Search
by Instructor's Name

If
more than one instructor matches the name you typed, click
on the correct name from the list (the school abbreviation NW
appears after the names of Northwest instructors/courses),

Click on the correct course
-
-
Write
down the call number for the item that you want, and present
it to the Desk Assistant at the Library Services Desk when you
are ready to check the item out.

| Every
reserve item is assigned a specific loan period. Loan periods for
Reserve items are as follows: |
- 2-Hour,
In-library Use Only
- These
items are checked out for 2 hours only and cannot leave the building.
- 4-Hour,
In-library Use Only
- These
items are checked out for 4 hours only and cannot leave the building.
- Overnight
- These
items can be checked out anytime during the day and are due back
15 minutes before the library closes on the next day.
- 3-Day
- These
items can be checked out anytime during the day and are due back
15 minutes before the library closes on the 3rd day.
- 7-Day
- These
items can be checked out anytime during the day and are due back
15 minutes before the library closes on the 7th day.

| Late Fees: |
Because
they are in high demand, Reserve items incur larger fines than
regular circulating materials. In-library-use Reserves incur fines
of $.50 per hour. All other Reserves (Overnight, 3-day, 7-day)
incur fines of $5.00 per day. The replacement costs for lost Reserve
items range from $45 to $115, depending on the type of material.
Fines and replacement costs are charged to the patron's university
account. |
