Academic Dishonesty: What is it?
- Purchasing your paper from someone else--either in person or online.
- Copying all or part of your paper from a print or online source.
- Creating a paper that consists solely of ideas you have pieced together from other sources.
HINT: You are expected to critically consider your subject and reflect upon the material you read, as well as write about what others have said about a topic (Procter).
Each of the points listed above may be considered plagiarism and might cause you to derail your academic career.
At Northwest Missouri State University, the penalty for the first occurrence of academic dishonesty is either an F in the course or other sanctions at the discretion of the professor. The penalty for the second occurrence is dismissal from the University.
