- Commonly select and organize Web sites with teams of human selectors
not Web robots
- Arrange Web sites into categories and sub-categories that many people
find intuitive and easy to navigate
- Can include reviews and/or ratings of sites they index
- Can focus more exclusively on scholarly Web sites more appropriate
