Owens Library, Northwest Missouri State University
As Library Outreach Coordinator for library instruction initiatives,
I am responsible for:
- Overseeing curriculum development, implementation, analysis, and assessment
of the library instruction program
- Managing the planning, funding, deployment,
statistical analysis, and study/compilation of the findings of the Information
Literacy Test from James Madison University
- Updating and implementing
the peer evaluation process for library instructors
- Gathering, analyzing,
and reporting data that measures the effectiveness and results of library
and information literacy instruction
- Analyzing instruction data and individual
librarian totals for annual reports and individual portfolios
- Scheduling
library instruction sessions and coordinating librarians’ schedules
for delivery of services
- Sharing information literacy
and instructional trends, developments, and strategies with library instructors
As a member of the Information Services Team, I am responsible for: 1991
to Present
- On-call reference service for a total of six to nine hours per week
- Delivering
in-person and online “Help with Research” consultations
- Answering “E-mail
a Question” queries
- Providing “Faculty Office Calls” service
- Planning and implementing
library “New Faculty Orientation”
- Teaching library research
and information evaluation skills on-ground and online
- Creating online
curriculum (Web pages, eCompanion/eCollege content, Tegrity lectures,
and Captivate presentations) that enhance on-ground library instruction,
deliver online library instruction, and facilitate reference service
- Hiring and supervising the library graduate assistant
As a member of the Brick and Click Symposium Team: 2001
to Present
- Organizing the session proposals for the peer review process
- Contacting
the authors to inform them whether or not their proposal for a presentation
was accepted or declined
- Informing paper and abstract authors of the guidelines
for proceedings submissions
- Editing the papers and abstracts for the proceedings
- Co-editing and arranging
for printing the “Brick and Click Libraries
Proceedings”
- Communicating with proceedings authors throughout the writing and editing
process
- Submitting the document to ERIC for publication, tracking its progress,
and notifying authors of ERIC publication
- Copyright release form distribution, collection, and accountability
- Serving
as “Master of Ceremonies” during plenary sessions
- Coordinating the assignment of introductions of presenters
- Greeting the symposium attendees as they arrive on the day of the symposium
- Designing, pricing, and ordering tote bags and folders for symposium attendees

- Acting as academic advisor for approximately 20 students per year (at-risk
students from 2003 through 2006)
- Helping students become responsible for their educational success
- Guiding students as they become acclimated to university life

- Co-developed and updated Owens Library Web Publishing Standards

web page usage and determined modifications to the Owens Library web
pages based on survey results, focus group input, and partnerships with
university academic departments
