This guide to help instructors create library assignments is authored by Lesley
Balcom, an Information Services Librarian, at the University of New Brunswick.
It expands upon several areas of emphasis: currency; feasibility; variety;
consultations with librarians; time frames; correct terminology; web reality;
citing sources; providing a copy of the assignments to your library; providing
a written copy for students; and don't be a stranger to the library. It also
includes sample idea for assignments.

Assignments Using Library and Internet Resources
John Kupersmith of the University of California Berkeley Library has created
a list of suggestions that expands upon these topics: set objectives and make
them clear to students; teach research strategies; provide resource lists;
consider alternative designs for the assignment; avoid these common problems;
and consult with librarians and use their services.
