Primarily an index for the visual arts, this index also covers performing arts selectively.
  Historical Abstracts (EBSCOhost)
Indexes and abstracts world periodical literature in history, excluding the US and Canada. Articles & Guides in this database that address the historical context of drama and theatre. Especially strong in its European coverage.
  Humanities Index
1st Floor, Reference North Wall Shelves 016.0013 H91h (Print only)

Covers all aspects of the humanities including history, literature, and the performing arts. This index was formerly called Social Sciences & Humanities Index and before that International Index to Periodicals (Reference 1st Floor North Wall Shelves 016.3 S67s, print only 1907-1974)
  IIMP Full Text (International Index to Music Periodicals - Chadwyck-Healey)
Indexes 375+ international music periodicals covering all aspects of music. Also includes articles on other performing arts related to music like theatre. Over 40 of the periodicals provide full-text titles. One simultaneous user may access this database at a time, so if you do not get in the first time wait fifteen minutes and try again.

"The JSTOR database is unique because the complete archives of core scholarly journals have been digitized, starting with the very first issues, many of which date from the 1800s." Choose the Language and Literature collections for articles on drama and theatre. Other collections may be added according to your topic. For instance, if you are researching ancient Greek or Roman drama, select the Classical Studies collection in addition to the Language and Literature collection.

Indexes over 6,500 sources, including journals, dissertations, books and book chapters, including drama and theatre as it relates to literature criticism and folklore.

Search for references to news and magazine articles about plays, information. A possible source of primary news articles about plays and play productions in the 20th century (1890-1982).

When searching for articles, keep in mind:
  Use words and phrases that you have already learned about in class lectures, in your syllabus, in your textbook, in encyclopedias, dictionaries and other books you have found as keywords in your periodical database searches.

  Use bibliographies in the periodical articles you find to locate other relevant books and periodical articles.
  Interlibrary loan those articles not available in Owens Library or available through MOBIUS REQUEST.
