This Web site simply provides links to the homepages of approximately 1,600 American colleges and universities which offer bachelor's or advanced degrees. In addition, there are links to international and Canadian colleges and universities.

This page is designed for international students interested in attending colleges and universities in the United States.

College and University Rankings
Librarians at the Education and Social Science Library at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign developed this site to provide links to ranked lists for general/undergraduate institutions, graduate/research programs, business, law, and international institutions. There are annotations which comment on the strengths and weaknesses of each site. A cautionary essay discusses the controversy surrounding rankings.

College Board Online-Scholarship Search
This site allows one to find scholarships, loans, internships and other financial aid programs which match the individual student's education level, talents, and background.

CollegeSource 
Access more than 15,000 full-text college catalogs in the original, complete, cover-to-cover format. CollegeSource provides information about 2-year, 4-year, graduate and professional schools.

College View
This site has a free online college search service with profiles of 3,800+ colleges and universities. Among the services offered here are virtual tours, electronic applications, financial aid information, and career planning tools.

CollegeXpress - The Web Site for College-Bound Students

This site allows one to search for information about colleges alphabetically, geographically, or by profile. It also includes information for international students, transfer students, and graduate students.

CollegeNet
This site has descriptions of 2 year colleges, 4 year colleges, MBA programs, medical schools and law schools. It is searchable and has several other features including Standout which allows students to create a profile for college recruiters to use. It also has an online application process.

Community College Web
"This site contains a searchable index to the web sites for 1168 community colleges in the United States, Canada, and elsewhere around the world. The interface we set up allows you to search alphabetically, geographically, or by keywords in the college name, location, or web address."

"FastWeb is the nation's recognized leader in helping students make the decisions that shape their lives: choosing a college, paying for college and finding jobs during and after college." It provides a free scholarship search service. It also has an "extensive college directory of more than 4,000 schools with information on admissions, financial aid and general information." It also provides information from national experts regarding financial aid, money management, admissions, career planning, jobs, and life after college.

FinAid! the SmartStudent Guide to Financial Aid
This site provides a free, comprehensive, independent, and objective guide to student financial aid. It was created by Mark Kantrowitz, author of The Prentice Hall Guide to Scholarships and Fellowships for Math and Science Students, and is sponsored by the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA). Some of its best features include a Scam Alert guide to spotting dubious scholarships and aid consultants. It also has links to scholarship databases and student lenders, and calculators that do everything from comparing loan terms to figuring out how much college will cost 16 years from now.


Peterson's - The Education and Career Center

This site helps students to search for college and universities including Accredited Universities and Black American Colleges. It also helps students find information about graduate programs, IT programs, and Adult/Distance Learning programs. The site also provides useful links to training and executive education, private schools, survey opportunities, career education/guidance, and studying abroad.

Here is a collection of resources for college-bound students at all levels including graduate and professional schools. This site features how to prepare for standardized tests like the SAT, LSAT, or GRE.

Scholarstuff

This site has a comprehensive directory of homepages of universities and colleges worldwide and additionally offers information on Greek life, taking standardized tests (GRE, GMAT, LSAT, TOEFL, etc.), obtaining financial aid, and searching for a job. Students may find the chat rooms useful as well.

Sallie Mae - Student Loan Marketing Association

Student Guide - Financial Aid from the U.S. Department of Education
"The Student Guide is the most comprehensive resource on student financial aid from the US Department of Education. It covers the Department's major aid programs, including Pell Grants, Stafford Loans, and PLUS Loans. About 70% of all student aid comes from the programs discussed in the Guide."
