The Art Institute of Chicago
This is the official homepage of the Art Institute of Chicago Museum. This site has pages on visitor information, a calendar of events, exhibitions, collections, books & multimedia, kids & families, students & teachers, group programs, members & donors, libraries & archives, museum shops, job opportunities, and image rights. The Collections section contains information and thumbnail images of the works of art on display.

Deutsches Historisches Museum (German Historical Museum), Berlin
This official museum homepage contains site links to information about the museum, exhibitions, the collections, a DHM object data base, an image archive data base, the museum shop, departments and museum staff, and links to other museums and search engines The collections section allows access to images and information about a number of artifacts, paintings, documents, and pictures in the collection.

Galleria Borghese
This site houses information and images of artistic works within these four museums; Palazzo Barberini, Galleria Borghese, Galleria Corsini, and Galleria Spada. There is a main page with links to artists, tickets, and links, as well as a page for each of the four museums.

Galleria degli Uffizi
"This is the official Web Server of the Galleria degli Uffizi in Florence." It contains site links divided into the sections of: Information, The Gallery, History, Buildings, and News. The Gallery section contains an index and site map that aid in finding certain works. In this section, some of the most famous works have been thumbnailed, while others are not presented with an image.

Hamburger Kunsthalle
This official museum homepage has information on a number of subjects concerning the museum. The subjects with site links include: Information, Exhibitions, Events, Collections, History, Museum Shops, Links, Sitemap, and Museums in Hamburg. The Collections and Museum links provide access to information and some images about the artifacts, art, and displays in the museum.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art
This is the official homepage of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This site contains a searchable database as well as information on museum news, special exhibitions, a calendar, events & programs, education resources, membership, visitor information, and much more. The Collection section has thumbnail images of and information on important artifacts and pieces of art from all around the world.

The National Gallery - London
This official museum page has site links divided into the categories of The Collection, Exhibitions, What's On, Plan Your Visit, About the Gallery, and Education. The National Gallery itself has around 2,300 pictures, but only some of the paintings of famous painters in the collection have been thumbnailed.

National Gallery of Art
This is the official homepage of the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. This site has links to planning a visit, exhibitions, online tours, education, programs & events, resources, and gallery shop. The Collection section is very helpful and contains a lot of information and thumbnail images of artifacts and works of art on display. Another very helpful section is the search page, which allows you to search the database by artist name, title key words, school, style, creation date, and medium. View the NGA Kids pages for art activities and projects for children.

Prado Museum
This is the official homepage of the Prado Museum in Spain. It has information on the history of the museum, visits, news, activities, and general information about the museum. The visits section has a list of reviewed paintings with images supplied.

Rijksmuseum - Amsterdam
This official museum homepage has site links to general information about the museum, the collection, exhibitions, science, education, museum agenda information, and shopping information. The Collection link is very useful, because it allows access to a virtual tour of the museum, information about the collection and recently acquired objects, and access to text, photos, videos, and animation of 1250 of the museums top exhibits.

Seattle Art Museum: Discovering Buddhist Art
"This Web site presents photographs, text, videos, and slides related to an exhibition of selected objects from private collections and the Seattle Art Museum's permanent collection of over 200 works of art and artifacts relating to Buddhism."

Virtual Library museums page
This page is maintained by Jonathan Bowen, a computer science and engineering expert with experience in integrating museums and the web. Welcome to the Louvre Museum
This site is the official homepage for the Louvre Museum in France. It contains a vast array of information on the Louvre in the categories of history, collections, virtual tour, latest news, exhibitions, auditorium, guided tours and workshops, education, ticket information, and links to publications and databases. The collections section contains a lot of thumbnail images of major exhibits and information about them. This site is definitely worth a visit!

"This site is part of PBS' "American Masters" series, which features biographical information and career profiles of well-known individuals in the visual arts, film, music, performing arts, and literatures. Stieglitz's career began in Germany in the 1880s. Stieglitz helped shape the evolution of modern photography through his depiction of changing culture, involving urbanization, national and international politics, and the rise of commerce."

Founded in 1954, the Archives of American Art has been part of the Smithsonian Institute since 1970. "Covering over 200 years of American art history, this site includes letters and diaries; manuscripts; records of museums, galleries and schools; photographs of art world figures and events; and works of art on paper."

Artcyclopedia - The Fine Art Search Engine
This site houses a searchable database of links to over 7,500 artists on the web. The database is searchable by alphabetical order, artist name, title of the work, movement, medium, subject and nationality, or by name and location if you are looking for museums. This site also has links sections to art museums worldwide, art headlines, press information, and art links.

ARTSEDGE
"ARTSEDGE supports the place of arts education at the center of the curriculum through the creative and appropriate uses of technology. ARTSEDGE helps educators to teach in, through and about the arts." This site houses a searchable database with information and links to information on news in arts and education, teaching materials, and professional resources for research. "ARTSEDGE was established under a cooperative agreement between the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts (with additional support from the U.S. Department of Education)."
