Those students who are interested in studying writing beyond the general education requirement are encouraged to pursue a Minor in Writing or a B.S. in English. Students who have selected a minor or major other than English, but would like to take additional writing classes, may choose to take a writing class as an elective.
Students from all majors are welcome in our classes, and our writing classes are usually composed of students from a variety of disciplines.
In fact, many other majors require or accept English 311 (Advanced Composition) or English 315 (Technical Writing) as part of their own course requirements.
Our undergraduate non-general education writing courses include:
|English 304||Rhetorical Writing|
|English 311||Advanced Composition|
|English 315||Technical Writing|
|English 403||English Grammars|
|English 420||Publication Skills (topic varies by trimester)|
|English 430||Writing for the Online Age (topic varies by trimester)|
|English 495||Internship in Writing and Research|
|English 501||Writing, Language, and Pedagogy (topic varies by trimester)|
