Textbook Information

Northwest has contracted with one of largest mail order textbook vendors in the country which currently serves thousands of individual distance education students nationwide. The company is MBS Textbooks Exchange and is the largest used book wholesaler in the nation. With more than 2.5 million books in their Columbia, MO facility, they have created the MBS Direct program to help us provide you, our off-campus student, with improved customer service. In effect, we are removing the middleman from our textbook services and enabling you to get your books directly from the vendor holding the inventory (MBS Direct). This means you will have more control over your textbook order, more options on the delivery of your books/course materials, and assurance that your books will be available when you need them. This will ultimately result in cost savings, convenience, reliability and better services for you. You have two options:

Order your textbook online:

1. Go online to MBS Direct.
2. Enter Northwest Missouri State University as the name of your school.
3. Click Search For Your School.
4. Select Northwest Missouri State University from the list of results.
5. Under Your Virtual Bookstore, click on BUY Course Materials.
6. Courses are listed by their 5 digit course number.
7. Check the appropriate courses and click Submit Course ID Selection(s).
8. Select the items to add to your cart. Continue shopping and check out when you are done making your selections.

Order your textbook by phone:

1. You call MBS direct at (800) 325-3252 and give your school name (Northwest Missouri State University), course name and number.
2. You may pay by VISA, MasterCard, Discover or American Express.
3. Orders will be shipped within 24 hours.

MBS operators are available to take your call during the times shown below and will inform you of the availability of used books and optional materials and will help you determine the best method of shipping.

Monday - Thursday	7 a.m. to 9 p.m. CST
Friday	7 a.m. to 6 p.m. CST
Saturday	8 a.m. to noon CST

Additional benefits MBS Direct provides include:

• Used Books: While you may purchase new books, the MBS textbook buyers make every effort to maximize the number of used books available which provide you with a 25% savings.
• Delivery: There are three methods of UPS shipping available: Ground Trac, Second Day Air and Next Day Air. The charges for delivery of your package are based on current UPS rates based on weight of the package and its destination.
• Textbook Buyback: You may sell books back to MBS by calling the toll-free number to determine the current value of the book. For books with resale value, MBS will send a check directly to you.
