Through dual credit, high school students can earn college credit from Northwest Missouri State University while still in high school. Currently, all in high school dual credit courses are taught by high school faculty. Northwest has online dual credit course offerings that are taught by adjunct faculty.
To ensure an appropriate rigor for dual credit courses, the instructors and course content for dual credit must be approved by the subject matter department at Northwest Missouri State University.
Students must also meet certain ACT score requirements and grade point average requirements.
Research has identified dual credit as one factor that can aid in college success and completion of degree work. [University Continuing Education Association. (2006, June). Lifelong Learning Trends (9th ed.), p.30.]
