How to Apply

If you are interested in applying to Graduate School and enrolling in classes, you should begin by completing the free Application for Graduate Studies.

New Student Orientation Information

New Student Orientation is used to help students learn more about Northwest and the Kansas City Center prior to their classes starting.  Each student is given information about Northwest e-mail, CatPAWs, myNorthwest, Textbooks, Owen’s Library online, and the Kansas City Center Daily Schedule.  Tours of the facility are also available.  Participants should RSVP with Holly Johansen, Education Coordinator, about a week before the event.

DAE/TLE & Writing
Assessments Information

Students pursuing a degree in Educational Leadership may be required to take a Departmental Admissions Exam (DAE), Teacher Leader Exam (TLE), or a Writing Assessment.  To find out more information about these items, and set up a time to complete them, contact Holly Johansen, Education Coordinator.

 Hi. My name is Holly Johansen. I am the Education Coordinator for Outreach, and I am a lifetime Northland resident and a product of the North Kansas City School District.  I assist Kansas City Center students with questions in regards to our education programs, admission requirements, and Northwest Missouri State University.

MBA Program

Portfolio Review Information
All students seeking a Master's in Educational Leadership or Specialist in Education degree, and those seeking certification for the principalship are required to compile, submit, and defend a professional portfolio. The portfolio should be designed to convey a clear picture of the student's professional philosophy, motivations and capabilities. Syllabi from various courses will indicate possible items to be included but must be utilized in the building/district setting.

Research Component Information
A research component must be on file in the Office of the Dean, Melvin D. and Valorie G. Booth College of Business and Professional Studies, prior to applying for approval to take the comprehensive examinations.

Comprehensive Examination/ETS Information
Students will take the Graduate Management Business Exam (ETS) during their last semester of enrollment. The test will be scheduled early in the term.

Applying for Graduation
All students must apply for graduation at the beginning of their last trimester of enrollment.  Please complete this form in full and submit it no later than the end of the third week of class for fall and spring or the first week of the summer trimester in which you plan to meet the assessment requirements.
