Installation Ceremony, 10:15 a.m.
Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts
Join us for the formal ceremony that installs Dr. Jasinski as
Northwest's 10th president.
Open Houses and Academic Showcases, noon-2 p.m.
After the formal ceremony, the different academic areas of Northwest will host open houses and academic presentations. Hors d'oeuvres will be
served at each location.
College of Arts and Sciences:
Olive DeLuce Fine Arts Building
Open House and Academic Showcases to include poster and live presentations from the Art, Chemistry/Physics, Communication/Theatre/Languages, English, Geology/Geography, History/Humanities/Philosophy/Political Science, Math/Statistics and Music departments. Presentations will include musical performances, poetry readings and a fire retardant demonstration, among others.
Booth College of Business and Professional Studies:
Open House and Academic Showcases to feature the areas of Agriculture, Business, Mass Communication and Computer Science/Information Systems.
Displays will include information about the different areas as well as
student and faculty accomplishments.
College for Education and Human Services:
Everett W. Brown Education Hall
Open House to include all Horace Mann and Early Childhood Center Classrooms hosted by Horace Mann students. Guests may want to enter by the East Center doors where Horace Mann students will provide directions to exhibits, elevator service to the Early Childhood Center (in basement) and to the Ploghoft Reading Room (on 2nd floor). Refreshments will be in the gymnasium.
The Academic Showcase will include a presentation on the newly revised College of Education and Human Services Strategic Plan, a choral recognition of President John Jasinski by Horace Mann's Bearcat Choir, an authors table with introductions to four recently published/edited books by faculty members, among other activities.
Hudson and Perrin Halls
Hudson and Perrin Residence Halls These halls re-opened in August of 2007 after being demolished and rebuilt. Guests will take a tour of the facility to see changes in housing accommodations during the latest building project.
The Student Life Academic Showcase will highlight student development experiences at Northwest. The showcase will share experiences of students who have participated in Student Affairs Programs, including:
Alternative Spring Break, Leadership Development Series, Intercultural Programming, and Peer Education. The focus of the showcase will be to let student leaders share their stories and provide information about how Northwest has helped them grow as students and leaders.
F lag Raising Ceremony, 2 p.m.
Joyce & Harvey White International Plaza
Refreshments will be served.
A homecoming tradition, the Flag Raising Ceremony is a great chance to celebrate the international diversity of Northwest.
Renovation Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, 3:30 p.m.
Come see the recent classroom renovation completed at Valk Center.
Grand Reception, 4 p.m.
First Floor, Administration Building
Desserts will be served.
Wrap up the day with dessert and a final opportunity to
congratulate Dr. Jasinski!
