Mrs. Denise Jasinski

Denise Jasinski grew up as one of 12 children in Michigan. She met John at Central Michigan University, where he says they were "just friends for quite some time, until I was lucky enough for her to say yes to dating me." They mark 25 years of marriage this spring, and to celebrate, the Jasinski family will be joining travelers on The Tourin' Bearcats' Hawaiian cruise.

Denise graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She is a former Northwest employee, having worked as a tutor and then the Academic Coordinator for the Upward Bound program for eight years.

"Denise was very, very reliable and very driven," said Phil Kenkel, director of TRIO programs with Upward Bound and Denise's former supervisor. "She was very focused, very caring and was really concerned about the students and their progress. These are great qualities to have in a first lady."

Denise left Northwest to become what Dr. Jasinski describes as a full-time "domestic engineer." In addition to being the mother of four children, Denise is known for her community involvement, her renovation skills and her aesthetic eye. She has remodeled the family's 102-year-old home in Maryville, doing a great deal of the work herself. She is currently helping oversee the renovation of the Gaunt House, the president's residence at Northwest.

From serving on the St. Gregory's School Board for six years - five as President - to many other charitable endeavors, Denise has always been an active community member. As First Lady, Denise says her priorities will include continued involvement in helping to develop the community, with an emphasis on affordable, quality and safe housing for all.

"From a soul mate perspective, Denise is unbelievable," Dr. Jasinski said. "She has a can-do spirit and gets things accomplished. And from a parenting perspective, she is wonderful. When people compliment us on our children, all of the credit goes to her."

The Jasinskis credit their faith as being the bedrock of their marriage and family development.

Matt, Joe, Leah and Lucas

The President and First Lady are the proud parents of four children.
Matt is a 2005 graduate from Maryville High School, and a 2009 graduate from Drake University with a Bachelor of Science degree and a double major in Marketing and Management. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Business Administration degree from Northwest. In addition to enjoying and excelling at the game of golf, Matt has interned in West Palm Beach for a nationally-known marketing expert and has helped his dad extensively on both the business and personal sides of business development.

Joe is a 2009 graduate from Maryville High School, and a freshman at Drake University considering an accounting major. Joe was the quarterback/linebacker and one of the captains on the Maryville High School football team that played in the state championship title game in 2008. Joe is the joker of the family (at least that's what Joe thinks, but his dad still believes dad's humor rules!).

Leah is in 6th grade at St. Gregory's School in Maryville. She enjoys volleyball and soccer and a host of other activities as she goes about enjoying life on a daily basis. Being the only girl, she mixes it up quite well with the boys, but holds that special place in her dad's heart!

Lucas is in the 4th grade at St. Gregory's School and plays baseball, football and basketball. He enjoys beating his dad in floor hockey and his matter-of-fact approach to life continues to bring enjoyment and laughter to the family!
All four Jasinski children have inherited their parents' love of learning and enjoy reading. They are passionate Detroit Tiger and Detroit Red Wing fans and enjoy inter-family squabbles involving the Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans.
