| Alliance
of Black Collegians
The Alliance of Black Collegian (ABC) is an outgrowth
of an organization called Harambee (Let's pull together), which was
started on the campus in the early 1970's. ABC was brought into it's
present-day existence in 1989. One of the objectives of ABC has been
to expand the awareness of Northwest and the Maryville community on
a culture that is unique to the African American. Some of these efforts
have been experienced through Gospel Extravaganza, Martin Luther King
Jr. Day Celebration, Soul Food dinners and other Black History Month
activities
The overall purpose is to create university togetherness
and awareness of the African American culture and history. Cultural
diversity is of utmost importance. ABC is open to all Northwest who
have a desire to work for togetherness and equality.
