The Office of Minority Affairs (OMA) is one of the three specialized departments in the Intercultural and International Center; a part of the Student Affairs Division of Northwest Missouri State University.
The mission of the Office of Minority Affairs is to assist Northwest in its continued mission to be a learner-centered university. This is done by focusing on the development of multicultural competencies for all students in order to prepare them for a world that is becoming increasingly diverse. The OMA also assists the University in living its cultural core values in the following ways:
We focus on our students and stakeholders - by asking about, understanding and responding to the needs of underrepresented students.
We care about each other - by providing a warm and inclusive environment that validates and celebrates different cultures and perspectives.
We are a learning organization continually improving the university and ourselves - by keeping up with current research and incorporating validated methods into our delivery of services.
We collaborate and work together to accomplish our goals – by working with other student affair and academic departments to provide quality diversity programs and services.
We master the details of what we do. We are leaders in our field - by constantly evaluating and improving our programs and services.
We are open and ethical - by doing our job with integrity, being transparent, and open to feedback.
