Office of International Affairs
International Affairs Values Statements
Along with the Office of Intercultural Affairs, Study Abroad and the English as a Second Language Program, IA promotes a pluralistic culture of inclusion and fosters learning opportunities for students, faculty, and staff alike to improve their intercultural competence and knowledge of global places, events, and social issues.
The importance of an international student and faculty presence at Northwest Missouri State University cannot be overstated. The presence of a diverse student population has a positive impact on overall student learning outcomes and IA is one office collaborating across the administration and faculty to recruit and retain high caliber individuals to study at Northwest.
IA provides immigration support for the current population of roughly 250 full time, degree seeking undergraduate and graduate students at Northwest as well as support for incoming exchange students, ESL students, and J scholars and students. We pride ourselves on providing ethical, knowledgeable, culturally appropriate, and efficient service to all students, staff, faculty and administrators.
IA supports international students in social programming such as Friends of International Students (FIS) and various celebrative programming. Supporting international student organizations, providing new student orientation, as well as hosting cultural knowledge workshops for all Northwest family members and beyond, IA works to make our community a better place by building mutual understanding and respect among all citizens of the Earth.
