NOTES:

  • The airport shuttle fee is included in your orientation fee of $50. You won't need to pay extra for using this service if you arrive on the designated arrival day.
  • If you are traveling as a group, please tell us how many people are traveling with you and the names of all the people.
  • NOTE: Students arriving after the date of arrival (Item 5 on your I-20) will not be accepted into the University.

    2. Complete the Shuttle Sign-Up Form

If you must arrive early:

OPTION B: (Arrival day or earlier) Don't need an airport shuttle

  1. Please notify us (nwintnl@nwmissouri.edu) of arrival day and your plans. Report to the International Affairs Office at 7:30 a.m., in the Student Union, on the day following the arrival day listed on your I-20.

OPTION C: (Arrival without notification)

  1. Do nothing! Just show up at the Airport and get a taxi from the curb: $275 one way.

Where can I live after arriving at Northwest?

Grad students and students over 21 years of age are not required to live on campus, but may choose to do so. There is plenty of space. IF you choose to live on campus. please complete the online housing form accessed through your CATPAWS account and a credit card or mail the included housing form along with a cashiers check or international money order so that we can have your room ready by the time you arrive at Northwest.

If you are above 21 or a graduate student, you can live off-campus. If you want to live off-campus, we will have student assistants helping you with your first night's accommodation on arrival day (see your I-20 for this date) and then we will look for apartments the following day. Health insurance and vaccinations to take before arriving in US

Please do not buy any Health Insurance in your home country. All international students are required to buy the insurance provided by Northwest Missouri State University. To learn more about our International Health Insurance Plan click here.

Students need to document 2 doses of MMR & 1 dose of Meningitis vaccination and bring proof of immunizations View PDF (signed by your doctor). You will be given them here if you do not have them when you arrive. The cost is roughly $190 for MMR and $175 for the Meningitis.

I am in Maryville what should I do now?

All new international students must attend the International Student Orientation ($50 fee applied to university bill). Orientation begins promptly at 7:30 AM in the Intercultural & International Center (IIC) on the day after the arrival date specified in Item 5 on your I-20. IIC is located in J. W. Jones Union (Northwest Map).

Please bring your I-20, acceptance letter, passport, Visa, I-94, and immunization records when you come for Orientation in the IIC.

How can I pay my fee?

Check

Pay by check or bank draft in US dollars, made payable to Northwest Missouri State University.  You can also pay online by webcheck which is an electronic debit to your US checking or savings account.

Credit Card

Northwest accepts MasterCard,  VISA, Discover, and American Express online only.  A 2.75% convenience fee will be added to the payment amount.

PIN Debit

Smaller payment amounts can be made in the Cashiering office using a debit card with a PIN.

International Wire Transfer

Northwest Missouri State University has partnered with peerTransfer in order to streamline the tuition payment process of international payments. peerTransfer allows you to pay securely from any country and any bank, generally in your home currency.

By making your payment with peerTransfer you can:

  • Track your payments from start to finish
  • Save on bank fees and exchange rates
  • Contact their multilingual customer support team with any questions, day or night

To make the payment:

  • OPTION 1: Log into your CatPAWS account and click on ‘International Tuition payment’ under the account tab OR
  • OPTION 2: Parents or other Third parties can go to: nwmissouri.peertransfer.com to begin the payment process.

Recognized Organizations

Indian Student Association (ISA)

ISA is a recognized and reputable student organization on campus. ISA is responsible for assisting incoming students with off- campus housing and food accommodations, as well as airport pickup.  You can contact ISA by email at ISA@nwmissouri.edu or through Facebook.
