Your current university does not need to assist you to transfer, but we will need a transfer form filled out by your current international office (see below) as part of your application packet. We understand plans can change for many reasons (family issues, visa denial, emergency, important life plans, etc.). We can help you by deferring your attendance by one semester or intake. When you plan to come for a later intake period or the following semester, you need to defer your I-20 and acceptance letter. Follow the steps below:
1. Please contact Admissions office (aheng@nwmissouri.edu) to defer your I-20. Include your name, what session you want to defer your attendance, and the address in which to send the new I-20.
2. Pay a $35 deferral charge (this fee must be paid before the I-20 is sent to you again).
You can pay your defferal pay two ways:

2. Wire transfer money to pay deferral fee: go to an international bank and ask to send a money wire:

Northwest offers honest tuition costs at reasonable rates. We pride ourselves on providing clear information for students regarding all costs. If you are deciding which university to attend, you should examine the fees and miscellaneous costs closely to decide the best rate. NOTE: Tuition, on-campus living expenses, and insurance premium are payable during the first week of classes. There is no need to pre-pay tuition. It is recommended to bring half of the tuition and living expenses plus the insurance and fee costs (roughly $10,800 for bachelor's students and $5,700 for master's students) as a cashiers check made out to Northwest to cover the FIRST trimester of school. A monthly payment program can be arranged upon arrival only. Please note: all trimester tuition and fees are due before a student may enroll in the following trimester.
FUTURE STUDENTS - IMPORTANT: Do NOT buy health insurance from your country to cover your studies here!
Travel insurance to cover airline changes, lost baggage, cancellations and delays is suitable to cover your travel here, but no other insurance will be accepted to waive the insurance charge.
All international students at Northwest Missouri State University will be charged for the university-sourced International Student Plan administered by SAS upon enrollment.
Coverage is effective until August 15 of the following year for ALL students. Students gradauting in December and potential spring semester transfer students, may submit a waiver applicaiton to the International Affairs office located in the Intercultural International Center (IIC).
NOTE: Students in exchange programs, short term non-degree programs, and government sponsored students (Finnish, ISEP, Saudi, Swedish) need to report to the IIC to report and file their insurance coverage.

The Student Plan administered by SAS is a reasonably-priced group insurance plan with provisions for either individuals or families is negotiated specially through the International Affairs Office. See here for cost and policy information.
Health insurance is necessary to help cover the extremely high cost of medical care in the United States. It is imperative to have resources to cover costs of possible accidents or unexpected illnesses. In addition, international students are strongly advised to provide health insurance for any dependents accompanying them to the United States. Plans also are available for a student¹s spouse and children at additional cost.
