Northwest Missouri State University

Meet the Director of Intercultural Affairs

Steve Bryant

Hello and welcome to the Office of Intercultural Affairs here at Northwest Missouri State University.  Whether you are a current or future Bearcat, or a Bearcat family member, we are excited to have you as part of our community!

Northwest is a great place to be.  We strive to provide quality services and offer a lot of great majors, academic support, and co-curricular opportunities to help you through your journey here at Northwest.  Northwest values Intercultural Competence and strives to foster an inclusive community for all of our students.  Assisting in this, the Office of Intercultural Affairs is committed to increasing cultural awareness, celebrating diversity, and providing support to our students of color and LGBT students.  Our goal is to help prepare global citizens to value the perspectives and experiences of others with specific emphasis on race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and gender expression, spirituality, nationality, and disability.  We do this through our mentoring program, cultural celebrations and events, and intercultural development programs, just to name a few.  Our organizations also provide a great place to connect, grow, and learn.

Our mentoring program ensures that you will not have to face the adjustment challenges of college alone. Incoming students are paired with upper classmen and/or faculty/staff members who help the students navigate their freshmen year. In addition, the mentoring program provides opportunities for personal, leadership, and career development.

Our office is located in the Intercultural International Center on the second floor of the Union.  We encourage you to embrace and enjoy your time here at Northwest, challenge your assumptions, learn from those around you, develop critical thinking skills, meet new friends, and find out who you are and how you can grow.

If you have any questions or need some information, please stop by and visit us or give us a call at 660.562.1367.  We would love to meet you!

Sincerely,

steve bryant
