Job Description |
The Office Assistant greets both walk-in and scheduled appointments in a manner consistent with good customer service approaches; Coordinates tutor schedule; Assists with all aspects of the TDC programs including Tutoring, Assist, Student Athlete Success, Supplemental Instruction, LAP/S and Assessment as assigned; Coordinates test accommodations for LAP/S students (students with disabilities); Tracks TDC record-keeping and statistics; Other routine clerical duties including making copies and filing as assigned; Maintains resources for the TDC; Proctor tests; Adapts communication style for a variety of student levels of interest and ability; Interact effectively with clients, coworkers and entire University community; Resolve needs of all TDC clients (tutees, faculty, university staff, etc.); Answer students’ questions; Make referrals when needed; Seek effective approaches to complete tasks; Word processing, spreadsheets and Internet research; Have ability to recognize, initiate and complete various tasks; Seek support and guidance; Employ creativity and flexibility in all aspects of role; Accurate data collection, storage, and retrieval; Excel in good customer service practices; Work independently and with minimal supervision; Actively participate in TDC training and social opportunities for networking experiences; Maintains a professional and supportive relationship with the entire academic community; Exhibit professionalism and courtesy; Support and encourage students; Promote student involvement within the learning community; Maintain confidentiality of information and services; Treat clients and other customers and stakeholders ethically; The TDC staff adheres to all University policies including sexual harassment and academic integrity; As peer leaders, TDC staff hold positions of influence in their TDC-related relationships and are additionally cautioned to adhere to the intent of the University policy regarding consensual amorous relationships as found in the Student Employment Handbook; Demonstrate ability to work positively with others; Adaptable to other's paradigms; Willingness to share information; Interact regularly with diverse on-campus populations including international students, underrepresented populations, and students of varying academic abilities; Submit work schedule prior to the first week of classes for each semester employed; Keep accurate records of TDC client services; Training Requirements: Completes the Partnership Training at a chosen time convenient to all; Attends training every Tuesday morning in the TDC at either 7:00 a.m. or 8:00 a.m.; Reads the TDC Employee Handbook within the first week of the semester and adheres to the policies; All first-time TDC student employees will participate in the TDC emergency procedures training early in the semester. |

5-14 Hours; If one person is not able to work the 14 hours needed two office assistants will be hired. |
